For those that didn't know, a BBQ was suggested. This, I think, is a very good idea.
Hopefully summery weather, good food, drink for those that want/can have it, exploration of a strange town. But we still need a place.

I think, having considered it, we are happy to offer ours (Shad and Pix). We're based in Gloucestershire, near Gloucester, funnily enough.
If people want to stay over we have spare beds ( 1 single, 1 double and 1 double sofa bed spare ) and some floor space. For additional entertainment, the bowling alley isn't too far of a drive, or there is laser quest, karting or paintballing available in Gloucester for the more adventurous / energetic. I'm happy to organise / get prices if people are interested.
One idea I did have possibly, was a timed deathbadger type race using one some alt slots. Can log on with a high level toon on one puter to monitor what is going on, and then the other puter could be used for the lowbie toon and the whole thing timed. Then we take it in turns if people want a go.
Just an idea, they float around my head and sometimes I have to let them out, even if they are daft.
Anyhow, happy to let people know more details of location if they are going to come along, although I'd rather not post my home address on a public forum.

That sounds like a plan, and staying over the night does seem like a good idea as it will take a while to get there and back (roughly 2/3hours for me according to google maps) and it allows for more stuff spread over two days. Just transport that is really the big problem, as I can only think of getting a lift off my parents and I'm not sure what they think of me staying round the house of a person I've only met through the internet In response to the date thing as I forgot about it at the time: 21st is good for me

Hmm, I should have my car by then so I can drive down, it's 3-4 hours going from Norwich to Gloucestershire apparently. Also depending on the route and where people liv I might be able to pick them up on the way.
Well, it's early yet, plenty of time to think about these things

Nearby Airports that are likely to be able to cater to people travelling internationally: Birmingham or Bristol. Staverton would be better (MUCH closer), but is incredibly limited.
We fully appreciate that minors might have some difficulty with their parents concerns, and are happy and willing to undertake any reasonable security measures that said parents feel are appropriate, provided that it is understood that we do wish (for a variety of reasons) to retain our privacy.
Thoughts that spring to mind to help with this would be for said parents to have my private mobile phone number and our land-line number with the understanding that they can contact us at ANY time during the course of the weekend to speak to their children. Our address will, of course, be given out to those attending.
If anyone has any further thoughts about how we can assist in making sure that everyone and their families are comfortable with this, it would be greatly appreciated - Pix and I would be most upset if someone was unable to come because of their parent's fears, but we also understand and respect those fears, too.

Parents! You're sending your kids to stay with someone who came up with Sam Huntington! Don't you feel SAAAAAFFE?
Okay, seriously, Shadowe and Pix are great people etc etc. Take Jaffa cakes and you'll probably be adopted.
Still not sure if I'll be coming to this or not, but if I do, I can do lifts from Bristol to Chez Chemlak.

I am considering attending the meet, since after a bit of snooping around, I discovered that Oporto\London flights are around 200 Euros, which isn't that much. I'm not sure about Bristol, though... although I will inquire.
Still, Giant has said he will go to London and from London to Gloucestershire by train, so I might try to aim to arrive at the same time as he does and then go for the train journey together. If other foreigners are dropping by too, we could all meet first at the airport and then move together to the train.
I do need to ask something of our most gracious hosts... if by any accident, my travel ticket demands that I'm obscenely early in London, or having to travel the next day, might I dare to impose myself on you for another night?

My dad wouldn't care really, he knows that most people on CoH are decent enough. Besides, we've semi-met both of you. =D
I'll inquire about the 21st of July, see what the reaction is.
2 hour, 47 minute-ish trip for me, FUN! =D
