Yeah, that thing.
It's a bit....empty. Sooo, whats the plan, what do people want to see? I'm thinking along the lines of blowing it up and starting again, hopefully getting some funtional parts in there. For those that don't know a base needs energy and control, which need a room each and things in those rooms. This is costly, of course, but I'll see what's available.
So, once thats in, what do people want first. Workshop, teleporters, medical bay, that funky new thing coming with I7 (meant to be cheap, I hear)?

Personally, i'd say go with the workshop rooms, since this will allow the crafting of more items for use in the base, (I voice my opinion because once the whole Quiver issues are resolved Ves would like to return to the Alliance, he left to try and make Quiver feel safe about returning mainly, that and the little incedent with Arketh, alternativly, Mephiston could always do with a home, might make it easier for Rin to keep an eye on him)

Well, I'm all for the functional, but from what i remember a power doohicky alone costs like 300k, so it's a little out of our current price range... In any case we need it looking snazzy *loads up CoH* Ok, being actually useful, I've got the USM base up here and... energy room is 150k, generator itself 225k control room is 100k, control thing is 150k So, I think we can't do anything "useful" for a little bit...

Indeed, expensive stuff. With some deleting of current bits we should have a reasonable bit of prestige, probably not enough though. Just wondering if we should make a start with what we can get anyway.

Let's drag this up again.
We're starting to build up a bit of prestige again and the base has a few working parts, but the main thing I'm thinking here is that it doesn't have a whole lot of IC purpose.
The base could serve as a whole lot of things, so lets hear your thoughts. It's always possible to start from scratch.

If I recall correctly, the base originated as Red Saint's home, then when he buggered off for the first time (he had a habit of doing some real crazy stunts, just so the newer members know) he left the apartment to Kat. Since then the majority of us have crashed out there on occasion, some for just a few nights, others for longer periods of time. Since those early Alliance days Ves has moved out, first to an apartment he shared with Midnight Blue, and more recently to a place by the Beach in Talos with Nyu and the rest of his family. Also IIRC Rin moved on and aquired himself a place in Founders Falls, and also CJ's.
My point being that currently the only real point in visiting the base is to visit Kat, but since Kat is most usually out and about with the rest of us, there's never really much need.
All this makes finding an IC reason to go to the base a tad difficult, research perhaps? Although another problem there as Rin often uses his access to the Vampire's big ass collection of books and such belonging to his uncle, and Ves used to just "borrow" any handy computer terminal and use his tech to access pretty much any system he needed.
Now then, what would happen if the FA began to take in more new members? We'd need somewhere to interview the applicants, and perhaps hold meetings or devise sneaky devious plots and other such things. Perfect use for a base, but then we hit the "This is where Kat lives" issue, a fully techno-decked base looks a tad unusual when tucked away in the corner of someones living room.
From my point of view the main problem is that there are too many things we could do but don't do because it always runs into a detail. If the base was made into a fully working command post, where would Kat live? At the base? If so, how would you add Kat's personal touch to the place without everything else seeming a little out of place, or vice versa?

<<snip>> how would you add Kat's personal touch to the place without everything else seeming a little out of place, or vice versa? Pink lighting. 'Nuff said. Although. Well, no, I don't have anything to add to what Ves has said already, except that perhaps I'd like for the control room to not be destroyed since i've got a couple of personal items in there.

I'd rather like a tiny room (size unnecessary, thanks to the wonderful power of fudge!) for Alfred's desk and all - again, it seems likely that the enormous window over the city, which, knowing dramatic appearance, would be perpetually sunset, will also have to be a creation carved entirely out of solid fudge. Though this is but a request, of course. I don't mind if a room/desk is unfeasible, since I don't understand this sort of thing.

A small room may be possible, but each room is a bit costly and I think priortising the useful bits is fairly important. Depending on how far the budgets stretches I may put a little multi-purpose RP room in, won't that be nice?

Might I suggest, for the RP functionalality of the base at least, that we take a look to other SG bases for inspiration. The Chess Club for example, haver a huge base which has been devided into loads of rooms by placing items such as book cases, those big blue wall-like things, (can't remember the exact name right now) and has thus managed to make one big room (like the one we use for CJ's) into several smaller ones, it looks pretty cool, and all the items they use are pretty cheap prestige wise, easy enough for everyone to run a mission in SG mode every now and then, or just Exemp for a while and earn masses of points.

Isn't it groovy? ;D
The next thing is an insp holder, then I think we'll need to go up a plot to fit other rooms and such so lots of saving to be done.
On salvage: better to forge what you have into components (material/power etc.) then dump it into the storage bins. That way we'll have plenty to build the larger things with, when we can afford them.
