(( Okies, mentioned a few nights ago that I'd be knocking together an ikkle post during my time at work (well I have nothing better to think about while walking round all night so I might as well do something constructive eh?) so here it is.
One minor note however, any other characters mentioned below are only done so during periods where Alita is dreaming, and as such absolutly no-one would suffer any IC repercussions from anything that happens (because it didn't really happen ya see) However, If anyone is unhappy I'm more than willing to rewrite it without mentioning any names etc, just swing me a PM (bonus points for anyone that can outsmart the profanity filter if they use naughty words ;D ) Anyways, hope you enjoy, or at the very least, hope you don't hate it ))

The moon spread it’s silvery light over Huntington Manor, illuminating the luxurious grounds with a beauty reserved for the more nocturnally inclined inhabitants of the city.
Tonight however, they shared the sight with the strange figure who sat upon the window ledge of the bedroom above the garage as he watched the smiling form of Alita as she slept.
He looked at her through the glass, his eyes emitting a faint blue glow as he read her dreams with a smile, the young lady in the arms of another woman as they shared a loving embrace and kiss.
Sighing regretfully he whispered softly to her mind “Forgive me little one, but this is for your benefit, and that of those you care for.”
***
Alita smiled happily as she held Lu close to her, and the pair shared a long lingering kiss as they lay upon the sands of the beach. Suddenly her arms closed around her own body, and as she opened her eyes it became evident that Lu was no longer with her.
Thinking she might have nodded off in her lovers embrace, Alita rose to her feet to find her. That was when everything went horribly wrong.
The ground opened up beneath her, swallowing her up and leaving no trace. She fell for what seemed an eternity before roughly hitting a cold stone floor, and it didn’t take long for the panic of the fall to be battered aside to make way for absolute terror as realisation of where she found herself dawned on her. This was the passage that had led to the vampire’s hidden lair in Poland, the place she’d been brutally tormented by her captors until a stranger had saved her and sacrificed his own life to ensure she escaped to the safety of the city she now called home.
Hearing foot steps approaching rapidly she bolted in the opposite direction, hoping to evade whatever was coming for her. On and on she ran, pushing herself to her limits, but it wasn’t enough and the sounds of pursuit grew ever closer. Risking a glance over her shoulder she could see a frenzied group of Vampires running with casual ease after their prey, murder in their eyes.
Energy born of desperation gave her legs a sudden burst of speed, but it still wasn’t enough to increase her lead, the best she could do was avoid letting them get any closer. Looking ahead she could see the end of the passage, and ultimately safety, but no matter how long she ran it never seemed to get any closer.
***
Scowling angrily, the man on the window ledge once more speaking directly to her sleeping mind “Running will not save you, perhaps a little extra incentive is what we need here.”
***
Alita froze to the spot as she heard the sudden sounds of conflict behind her, and risked a glance to find the cause of the commotion. There, battling with the Vampires with all their strength, were all her friends and allies, past and present, but it was no use. The foul creatures were slapping them aside as if mere play-things, screams of rage and pain echoing around the close confines of the passage until all the sounds merged into one continuous crash. Tears rolled down her face as she saw old friends dying once more and new friends and loved ones beaten back under the onslaught of the beasts they were trying to hold back.
Dropping to her knees she began to weep pitifully. She knew it couldn’t be real, she’d seen most of the people in the tunnel die once already, but no matter how many times she repeated it to herself, it did nothing to ease the pain of what she was seeing now
“You’re pathetic!” a cold, angry voice declared from just in front of her. Looking up with stinging red eyes from crying she saw the familiar face of the one who had saved her the last time she had seen this place, though this time he did not appear to be in the best of moods.
He reached down and hauled her to her feet by a handful of hair, and once she was upright he struck her savagely across the face with the back of his hand. The force of the blow spun her round until she was facing the battle she was trying to avoid, just in time to see Lu being dragged down by the unholy pack of hunters.
“I gave my life to save yours, and this is what you have become? A snivelling coward? I should have left you to die when I had the chance. At least then the Alliance would have had someone with a little backbone to fight beside them when the time comes.” His cruel, mocking tone hissed in her ear “You asked Akkarin for membership to repay my sacrifice, and you choose to do that by running when those you hold dear fall around you. Watch as the one you love is torn to pieces by the enemy you should be fighting with her.” with that he kicked the back of her knees, sending her tumbling to the ground once more.
As Lu’s screams drowned out the sounds of battle Alita tried to lower her head so as not to watch, but Mephiston’s grip on her hair held her head up as more tears streamed down her cheeks.
“No more, please, I don’t want to watch any more. Let me go, I beg you”
“Fine, I shall end your suffering here and now” A moment later she felt the keen edge of his sword resting against her skin on the side of her neck “If only you had the strength to face your fears, none of this would have had to happen. Instead you’ve become nothing more than a liability; I guess that’s just too bad for you. Perhaps in your next life you’ll actually serve a purpose.” And with that he pulled back his blade and swung it in a single efficient arc.
***
The man on the ledge watched as Alita woke with a piercing scream, sitting up to draw huge gulps of air in an attempt to calm her nerves. His eyes dimmed as the faint glow began to fade slowly, a smile hovering upon his lips. Now all he had to do was watch and wait to see if she had gotten the message, if not, her sleep would be rather troubled until he was satisfied that she was ready for the battle to come…….
