Another long night, at least there was only one thing left to do. Wandering the corridors of Fletched Alliance HQ was Akkarin, looking for a place to keep the days collection. It had been a successful trip, his older cousin Graham was "out of the picture" and he'd had time to reclaim some of his property, even brought back a few gifts.
This part of the tower was silent, dark and empty. Seventh floor, he hadn't found a use for it yet so it was just empty offices, it would be perfect to hide a stash of french chocolates and wines. Akkarin was still walking, more for the oppourtunity to be alone with his thoughts. He'd been walking for half an hour when he heard something, a gentle sobbing from one of the rooms.
Akkarin carefuly approached the door and gave it a push, peering around. A voice spoke up, between sobs "Ak... Akkarin? Is it you?"
Recognition set in and Akkarin formed his sword, but hesitated imediately after. He took a few steps into the room, sword still held ready. "Alrua? What do you want now? I'm not in the mood for a fight."
"You were right Akkarin, mum and dad.... they hurt me, they don't care.... please, I don't know where to go, your the only good person I know.... help me"
Akkarin lowered his sword a little "Don't... don't try and play any of those tricks, I was brought up on them. Just get out before I make you..."
Alrua pushed herself further into the corner and wiped away a tear "Please..... he was so nice and mum just.... she just killed him... I don't want to go back and I don't want to be all alone...." Pushing herself up, her face took a defiant expression "You have to help, I want to get them with you, they all say you're gonna do it one day. Please big brother? I'll prove you can trust me, just give me a chance."
Akkarin made the sword dissapear again and took a step forward, staring into her eyes sternly "You get one chance, you lose it I won't hesitate to do what I have to. Now get out, find some other place to stay."
Alrua grinned and prepared to hug him, but stopped when she saw his expression and walked out, alone.
