((Cheers to everyone who partook in the plottage yesterday, I was well impressed, and it's probably just aswell 'cause otherwise Kat coulda been lost forever! Anyway, the following is something I decided to write on a whim, and could be nice for anyone who wasn't there or wasn't paying attention.))
Rituals, it was always rituals with the glowing green-eyed bastards. Kat crept further into the dark recesses of Oranbega, punching the lights out of a load of thorn cronies on the way, occasionally permanently. Eventually she came across a big cavern, y'know the kind, and it seemed a ritual was set to take place. Yet there wasn't anyone (or anything) in sight. Approaching slowly while having some banter over the comm system, Kat whirled around at a rumbling noise to discover the corridor she entered through was being sealed by a falling door. Leaping back to it too late, and while attempting to reopen the door with an ever increasing sense of futility, She was thrown against the wall by a mage and knocked unconscious. Her comm was activated at the time, so Alfred and Jane were able to hear some strange noises, which prompted Alfred to try to port her out. It succeeded, Kinda. The body of Kat came out, but was unaccompanied by her soul, as that was in a small magical crystal, by now lying on a shelf, back in Oranbega.
Marvelling at the outside world which he had not seen in many years, the Thorns mage now inhabiting Kat's body aroused a fair amount of suspicion fairly fast. Hurrying over to see what had happened, Jane had a somewhat sarcastic conversation with the mage. <Won't ruin what happened now for everyone else>
After fleeing the encounter, Karaset settled down somewhere in Perez Park and continued to wander about, generally being odd, like all mages are, especially Al Hrama. (()) Anyway, Jane arrived back at the base, and promptly fainted. Brought back to consciousness by Kit, she seemed in a pretty bad state. Understandable given the current predicament presented by the fact her fiancé had been pretty much posessed. Always the clear thinker, Akk shot some orders off and used some magic to locate Kat's body. Alfred and Jane, meanwhile, Went down into Oranbega again to rescue Kat's soul, homed in on by Alfred's powers.
Once both were done, Akk confronted Karaset while he was sitting down being quiet. Here's how it went:
Akkarin: "Down to business then."
Kathena raises an eyebrow
Kathena: "do you mind?"
Akkarin: "Would you rather leave or get kicked out?"
Kathena tilts her head slightly to the side. "Like to see you try..."
Akkarin: "Sounds like an offer"
Kathena: "You shall find me more than a match for you, vampire."
Akkarin: "You'll find me far better than you, mage"
Kathena: "What is it...? You can talk the talk..."
Akkarin: "You must remember me Karaset, we fought on the same side once"
Kathena raises an eyebrow.
Akkarin: "Remember that I had no equal"
Kathena narrows her eyes slightly. "Al Hrama...?"
Akkarin: "Well done"
Kathena seems momentarily peturbed, but plunges on regardless. "Hah, I've had a long time to practice since then."
Akkarin: "I'm sure you have, not that it matters. I'll ask again, will you leave her or will I make you leave"
Kathena: "An ultimatum, is it? Well, how about a friendly. If you lose, I take this frame, and leave you alone. If you win, you take the girl, and I go."
Akkarin: "Deal"
Kathena: "Alright, then..."
Kitmarch murmers. "Friendly? We gonna play soccer?"
Akkarin glances at Kit "Magic games aren't quite as friendly"
Kathena narrows her eyes again and twitches a hand
Akkarin throws up an invisible barrier
Akkarin: "Not enough practise it seems..."
Kathena considers, then sends several red lances at the barrier, obviously not aimed toward akk.
Akkarin barely moves, the lances bouncing off
Akkarin lowers the barrier and lifts the ground beneath Kat
Kathena leaps backward off of it, and attempts to project said ground into akk
Akkarin fires a burst of flame at the flying ground, incinerating it
Akkarin fires his own red lances, aiming just past Kat's head
Kathena smiles benignly and flings some nearby litter at akk, forming them into spiky things as they fly
Akkarin raises another, more visible barrier
Kathena flinches at the near miss, then after a moment looks extremely evil
Kathena forms another two lances, aimed at her own neck and chest
Akkarin: "You won't...."
Kathena: "You seem pretty sure of yourself..."
Luminous Phoenix grimaces, fists clenching and unclenching randomly
Telepath raises an unnoticable telekinetic barrier where the lances would go.
Akkarin grimaces angrily and throws his arms forwards, attemptiing to force Kat's arms to her sides "I said you won't!"
Kathena has her arms pinned, but simply releases a jet of ice at akk's groin from her hands.
Akkarin bats the ice aside with his hand
Kathena hops back again to make some distance.
Akkarin: "I still know magics you don't"
Akkarin forms a blade with his showdy energy and draws it across his hand
Kathena raises an eyebrow.
Akkarin does the same with the other hand
Akkarin half smiles "You need to read more"
Kathena: "Mmm."
Kathena slightly nervously raises a strong visible barrier of her own
Akkarin lauches a jet of blood from each hand, spliting up and solidifying around the wrist and ankles "Barriers won't help you"
Luminous Phoenix winces
Kathena struggles against the crimson bonds. "What trickery is this?"
Akkarin: "The one thing you thorns never learned, blood magic"
Kathena looks at him unknowledgably
Akkarin touches her forehead with one finger "Time to leave"
Kathena growls and grits her teeth.
Akkarin sends a wave through her, literaly pushing the sprirt out
Kathena 's eyes stop glowing and she slumps to the ground with a whimper.
Akkarin staggers slightly
And there you have it. After that, I don't know what happened exactly to be honest, but Kat's in her own body again, probably slightly weakened.
