Placed carefully against the screen of the large monitor by the door is an envelope, addressed to the Fletched Alliance in a careful hand written script.
Contained within are two more envelopes, addressed to Kathena and Frey, and a letter, also hand written, which states as follows….
I would like to take this opportunity to formally apologise for some of the comments I made the other night. My opinions have not changed, which I expressed at the time, although the way I vocalised my thoughts should have been better. By this I refer to the comment made about wanting to kill Quiver myself at times, I didn’t mean that in a literal sense, it was merely a turn of phrase, although with it being me that said it I can understand the concern, and that is what I feel I must make this apology for.
However, when someone replied to this with the comment “You sound like a villain” it got me thinking, maybe I have gone beyond what is acceptable behaviour for the city, maybe others already see me as such and would relish the chance to send me to the Zing. I don’t know to answer those thoughts for myself, let alone how to answer and justify them to others. I am what I am, there is nothing I can do to change that, and probably wouldn’t even if I could, I like me the way I am, granted sometimes I’m impulsive and reckless, but those flaws I blame firmly upon the circumstances surrounding my life, unfortunately this recklessness can sometimes carry over to other parts of my life where it is less useful, and in some cases can be harmful. If I have ever hurt any of you with my actions, please know it was never my intention, and I’m sorry. It will never happen again.
Next I refer to one of Jane’s parting comments, she asked “Will there even be a group to come back to?” and personally, I truly hope there will, although after considering the points I made above, I find myself thinking that IF there is a reason for the group to disband and go it’s separate ways on bad terms, I would be at least partially to blame due to my behaviour recently. This is something I have no wish to do, I care about the Alliance like a family, and if there is anyway I can spare that family pain then I will do all I can to ensure it is avoided.
It is with a heavy heart that, after some deliberation, I must inform you that I am currently considering my resignation from the Alliance, and from the city itself. I would not feel comfortable with any other group apart from those I am currently with, but if my actions risk causing more trouble for my “family” then I do not deserve to call you friends, let alone my brothers and sisters.
Although this decision is far from final yet, it should be noted that I will, for the time being at least, only rarely be seen in the city, mainly to give me time to think, but also, and I know this is being selfish (yet another trait unfitting for a hero) to avoid having to say goodbye and explain my actions to everyone else. They aren’t “family” and as such I owe them no such courtesies.
As a final point, you will find two other letters with this one, I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass those on to the people they are addressed to for me, consider it a possible final wish if you will. And if I decide to stay, well I am sorry for any trouble this letter has caused, but I felt it had to be written, if only to clear the air and explain why I decided to do what I did.
Thank you all for everything you’ve ever done for me, Veskit

Upon reading the main body and her part of the letter, Frey got extremely pissed off, donned a villainous costume and set out to the isles to find Ves and kick his arse for valuing their relationship so little...

Placing his cell phone back into his pocket, Ves pushed himself up and onto his feet, his "chair" gave a muffled groan so he gave it a hefty kick somewhere painful, Hellions, they don't make em as comfy as they used to.
So Freya was coming to find him eh? He chuckled grimly, it was things like this that reminded him why he loved her, although this was probably going to prove a little painful. Good job his contacts had tipped him off, last thing he needed was a surprise ass kicking from her before he'd at least had chance to explain things.
Giving the hellion another kick for good luck, judging by the snapping sound it wasn't lucky for the guy on the floor but that was his tough luck, Ves set off home, he wasn't going to make it hard for her to find him, that'd just make her even madder, but he was going to hide anything flammable or breakable if he could, good furniture wasn't easy to come by in the isles....

So this was where Ves was staying on the Isles. Most other villains seemed terrified of the place, and there appeared to be proximity alarms everywhere- very fitting. Freya, AKA The Blazing Countess, approached the door with all the ominousness she could muster, and rose her hand to knock. She stopped with her fist half way up.
The door exploded spectacularly, sending flaming splinters screaming all over the place. Where it used to be stood a furious looking woman indeed, framed by an intense angry- red inferno. She stepped inside and spotted Ves, the fire becoming more intense, despite her face slightly softening and a glimmer of happiness appearing in her eyes. "How dare you!? How could you do that to me, Ves? We had something. We have something. How dare you tell me forget you!? Tell me to find someone else?" she tilted her head to the side and issued a wry smirk. "Someone to care for me? I should kick your arse just for that." With that Freya crossed her arms and waited for a response with an ever- so slight smile on her face.

Ves didn't know what to do first, should he put ouf the small fires which had started due to the red hot remains of the door landing on his lap, pry the broken remains of his glass from his hand which he'd crushed as he'd started to turn ready for a fight, maybe breathing would be a good idea rather than choking of the mouthful of the 100% alcohol he had been drinking prior to the dramatic entrance.
He decided to do the latter of the available options, breathing was always a good idea. This still didn't solve his current predicament, the woman he loved was stood in what was left of his doorway and was looking mightily angry, along with intensly attractive, so he resorted to the age old response which had served mankind down the ages, he panicked.
"Freya, babe, I can't explain if I'm a pile of ash. Come in, take a seat and at least hear me out. If you don't like what you hear, you can fry me later, but for now, how's about we turn down the flames a little and talk about this?" The panic had passed, and walking carefully over to a computer terminal he punched in a few commands and a large steel blast door slid into place where the old door had been.
Looking back to Freya he noticed her new outfit for what seemed like the first time, he let out a quiet whistle of appreciation, by god she looked stunning when she was angry. "My head's all messed up at the moment, I don't know what i was thinking when i wrote what i did, all I could think about was how the public's opinion of me would reflect badly on you, I didn't want your reputation to be dragged through the mud along with mine just because we're together. For the same reason I was considering leaving the Alliance, people think that one bad apple will spoil the whole batch, and I didn't want to be the one that spoilt everyone I know and care for, especially not you." Ves hung his head shamefully, "I know better than most you don't need anyone to care for you, but if I wasn't going to be around I wanted you to be happy."
Sighing deeply he placed his hands behind his back and raised his head, looking her directly in the eyes, "Thats the only explanation I can give you, if you still want to bounce me off everything in the room I won't even try and stop you, I've clearly offended you and for that I'll take whatever you throw at me as punishment willingly, just know that I love you, and will love you even with the final beat of my heart"
That was it, he'd given her his reasons for his actions, now he just hoped that she'd either forgive him, or if nothing else give him a quick end, he wouldn't resist her if she went mad at him, he'd never been able to resist her, now it was all up to her.

Freya looked at Ves for a minute or so after his speech, then eventually sighed a mightily disappointed sigh and turned her flames off, before striding up to him and punching him pretty hard in the nose. "Ves, you're a thingy, you know that? You know I can't stay mad at you, kicking someone else's arse with you is probably- and I say this grudgingly- better than kicking yours... Bastard..." With that she aimed another punch, but her heart wasn't in it and she broke down into laughter. "MY reputation? My reputation!" After she got that under control, she continued, "As for being happy, being with you makes me happy you fool! If you wanted me to be happy you should've just taken me here! Noone worth anything pays attention to that circus they call the media anyway, and I wouldn't really care if they did, now let's go out and ruin someone else's day instead of our own. Get up, you thingy." With that she helped him up, then into a wall for good luck, and stopped at the steel blast door, grinning a little. "And open this thing, wouldja?"

Ves grinned, with a slight wince as the facial movement caused what was left of his nose to flare painfully, he'd been expecting worse, but that didn't stop it stinging like hell.
Shoving himself up from his current half standing half prone position against the wall with one hand he wiped blood from his face with the back of his free hand, realising he still hand half his glass embedded in it. "sounds like a plan hun, but how about you let me get cleaned up first? Can't really go playing out looking all busted up now can I? the locals will think I'm getting soft. Gimme 10 minutes for a shower and a change of gear and I'll introduce you to some of the locals, you'll love 'em."
Regaining his feet and composure fully he chuckled, to himself more than anything, "I've been meaning to invite you out here for a while, but as you can see, the place could do with a little bit of clearing up, didn't want you thinking I lived like a slob now did I?"
He strode over to her, and leaning down slightly kissed her firmly and passionatly, "God I've missed you, and I promise I won't be doing anything this stupid again for quite some time, at least not until I can get a stronger door for the place." Turning he walked to the bathroom with a laugh, "I'll be back in a few minutes hun, grab yourself a drink and make yourself at home, I'll be right out"

The entire exchange had been watched.
The vampire known as Siriad dropped from his hiding place and sent a metal comuntication to the one who had sent him, reproting what had happened.
Akkarin chuckled to himself and sent his reply "Keep following them, make sure they don't get in too much trouble, tell me if anything more happens"

After a few minutes Ves emerged from the bathroom, only this wasn't the Veskit Freya was used to seeing, Gone were the far too baggy jeans and sneakers, replaced with some shockingly figure-hugging leather pants, (shocking for him anyway, the only thing he'd ever worn that compared was his armoured suit)
His comfy sneakers had been swapped for a brutal pair of boots, studded with spikes, and gloves to match. But most shocking of all was his face, it wasn't visible, instead it was covered with a mask which, apart from the switching sections of black and deep red, displayed nothing more than quite possibly the most sadistic grin possible.
"I'll just fix my hair and we can play, this won't take a second." Suddenly there was a flickering of red behind the mask which showed through, and his hair, which usually hung freely down the sides of his face flared backwards into vicious spikes
"Ok, all set, guess it's time to give you a tour of the 'hood and introduce you to some of the locals."

Freya looked up from her pint of smoking crap and looked Ves up and down with a raised eyebrow. "And you'd deny me seeing that too?" and grinned. She got up after draining the rest of the glass and swaggered toward the door, the usual tone of flames around her returning. "Let's go have some fun, dear"

Behind his mask Ves was all smiles as he walked to the door, pausing only to punch in a few commands on a control panel set into the wall, "Now you'll be able to get in and out anytime you like, not that you couldn't already, but this way you won't need to blow the door up each time." he told Freya with a chuckle.
A small screen by the side of the panel showed a mob of around 20 members of The Family trying to hide and lay an ambush for the pair, when would they ever learn, oh well, can't just leave those guys out there on their own, they might get bored and go home, "Looks like the fun is already starting babe, your beauty seems to have attracted quite a few admirers, and they're all waiting outside for us, what say we pop over and say hi?"
Suddenly Ves vanished, becoming nothign more than a shadow as the door slide open, "Lets make it interesting, whoever bags the least buys the drinks next time we hit Pocket D for the night. Sound fun?"
