Hey, all.
A while ago there was a short spate where we did some weekly IC mishing. It was a lot of fun, but - as seems to happen with these things - it died away after a while.
Well, given that I love spending time IC with people (and in case you hadn't guessed yet, if you can see me online and I'm not in a mish, I'm probably waiting to see if anyone's willing to RP), I thought it would be a good idea to reprise this idea, with a little twist (whether this becomes an ongoing thing or is just a one-off kind of depends on everyone's feelings).
I have a story arc (coming up - only just got the contact, and need to clear away the 'filler' mishes) on Samantha Huntington (L37 Rad/Psi Defender) that I want to play through IC.
It's a good arc (Anton Sampson, I think the contact is - not at home so can't double-check that right now), which gives some nice story, and I was thinking of trying something I've not seen done so far - literally run the contact and missions as-is (with one minor exception - more on that later). I will not be GMing this. The plot will be the plot of the story arc, as written.
I am hoping to acheive a couple of things out of this. Firstly, the chance for everyone to spend some more time IC with people - this is always a good thing. Secondly, the opportunity for people to write some fun stories about a) what happens in the mishes and b) investigations in between the missions. (Not that I'm asking anyone to do this - I just think it could be fun.)
Now, admittedly a large number of us have characters that will have already done this arc, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to fudge this as 'something new', despite using something old to do it (this particular arc was chosen because it's quite an exciting one from the perspective of the story of CoH).
Now, I still have a couple of ongoing plots of my own running right now, so this doesn't have a huge amount of urgency to it (though I'd prefer to try it before too many toons outlevel the arc too much), but I wanted to do something more with Sam for a while (while I think more about a specific plotline for her that I have in the works), even as the ongoing saga of Richard continues.
So, thoughts and opinions, people, please!
Oh, yeah, and that one minor change I mentioned: The only problem I have with the Contacts system in CoH is the huge innappropriateness of it to variety. You finish one contact and he/she says "I've got someone who'd like to meet you" and you go along to the new contact and they say "Nice to meet you, I have a job for you."
ARGH!
Whatever happened to patroling the city and seeing someone fleeing a crime in progress, helping them out and from there finding yourself embroiled in an adventure? So I'm going to write a little piece about Sam to fit the contact introduction more fully into my concept of her and the situations in which she would find herself.
