The Crey and the Telepath
Alfred Bester, on the morning of Friday, 19th May, is attempting a rescue of hostages in an office block. The captors are the Crey, the hostages office workers who were going to reveal Crey's corruption and dirty deeds. However, whilst he succeeds in rescuing the hostages, he is captured and imprisoned by the Crey. They take his DNA and flash-clone him.
In the evening, the Crey plans to repeat this process - as well as prevent the rescue of Alfred. The cloned Alfred telephones Kitmarch, masquerading as the real Alfred and asking her to come and meet him in Brickstown. However, when she arrives, it is soon shown to be a trap and the 'Alfred' who called her shown to be fake. She quickly deals with the Crey troops, but 'Alfred' escapes.
Kitmarch returns to the Fletched Alliance and informs them of what happened, and they begin planning a rescue - though sketchily, as they do not know where he is held. (Either that same night or the night after, RL time permitting), Kit recieves a telepathic message from Alfred - he is able to tell her where he is being held, and so the Fletched Alliance (and any allies who wish to come along) swing into action.
They arrive at the facility Alfred is being held (represented in two ways - the 'combat team' will go on a Crey-fighting mission, those who rescue Alfred arrive on the roof of the Zig). Large numbers of Crey troops await - the majority of the rescue party deals with them, whilst Kitmarch (and possibly another, if there is a volunteer) head down further into the sublevels to rescue Alfred. Whilst the rest of the party is laying explosives to destroy the building and fighting off the Crey troops pouring in to defeat them, Kit (and the other) meet the cloned Alfred. 'Alfred' is overseeing the real Alfred and about to have injected a lethal dose of the sedatives that are keeping him unconscious, but is prevented by Kit.
Kit then fights the cloned Alfred, who, instead of the more heroic methods used by the original, instead directly attacks the mind. Kit, (possibly with assistance) defeats and kills the cloned Alfred in a rage, and then sets about freeing the real Alfred. This managed, though he remains unconscious, they evacuate the building and soon detonate the charges, sending crowd-pleasing pyrotechnics of the building's demise visible across the city. The real Alfred is returned to hospital and treated for the enormous, nearly lethal dose of drugs he has recieved - eventually recovering with Kitmarch by his side. The true Alfred vows justice against the Crey and seeks to prevent them doing what they did to him to anyone.
