Okay, update time.
Mortgage is no longer screwing Plas over due to interest rates being through the floor. That's is for the good news, back to the whining.
So, having finally tidied up my Design Definition Review actions, I thought I should prep for the Next Phase. Production Definition. Never done one of those before. Still, got DDR out of the way. Green light finally awarded. Should be a good time for a nice break before having to panic again, right. Right?
So, I go and consult The Plan. Unfortunately, The Plan no longer says PD finishes end Sept. It now finishes end July. Okay. I can cope with that.
After a week of trying, finally nailed down my boss for an hour this afternoon to ask him what I needed to do in this phase. Short version: Everything. Detail design. Manufacturing drawings. Quotes. Prototype. Functional testing. EMC testing (yurk!). Manufacturing schedules. Write the actual software to go in it. The lot.
So, after I achieve the (from where I'm sitting) impossible, I then have three months to do absolutely nothing but write manuals while the production kit is manufactured, just in time to panic about making it work before stuffing it onto a sub. Where it shall hopefully do feck all for the rest of the natural life of the equipment (which shall hopefully be quite long, as people won't be impressed if it falls apart after 2 weeks).
Got home to a letter informing me I'd lost my job, and been given a new one working in the same building with the same people doing the same thing, only for a different company (AKA the takeover finally went through all the way).
