Richard looked down at the bound rikti lying on the rubble in front of him.
"They closed off part of the MOTHERSHIP due to a 'rodent infestation'?"
The rikti twisted its head to look at him. "Repetition: Unnecessary. Answer: Correct."
Richard nodded to Sam, who bent her will once more, ripping deeper into the thoughts and memories of the powerless being before her.
"She's telling the truth, Richard. And the timing just screams that this is our answer. We have to go in after her, Dicky."
Richard nodded, his nostrils flaring in the chill air.
"Fine. Helena? Patch me through to the FA comm network, please. Message to all Paragon FA members. Message begins: Kitmarch is currently presumed to be alive and well aboard the rikti mothership. We need a planning session to discuss and evaluate methods of extraction. Contact myself or Sam in the usual ways. Message ends."
Helena's too-cheerful voice responded almost instantly. "Message sent, Master Richard. I do look forward to seeing Mistress Kit again. I miss ordering pizza and ice cream for her."
Richard pointed an energy-shrouded fist at the rikti. "You and me both, Helena. You and me both."
The rikti, designation H'canuth, stared in cowering terror at the furious build-up of energy around Richard's hand and then...
Blackness.

((The following occurs at an undisclosed (but pretty close to now) time and anyone who wants to get involved can, so please do! I'm trying this out here rather than in-game for pretty much the same reasons as the FA meeting.))
Richard Huntington looks around at the gathered faces, a grim smile creasing his face. "Thank you all for coming. For anyone who has never been here before, welcome to Huntington Manor - the drinks are in the cabinet over there, and there is a standing invitation to members of the Fletched Alliance to use the hot tub - call Helena to check there aren't any scheduling conflicts, please!" He smiles, then looks up at the ceiling.
"Helena, the projection, please." There is a flicker of light, and a partially constructed image of the rikti mothership forms in the air above the table. "This is our most current information on the lead vessel of the rikti fleet, gleaned from recordings made while Sam and I were captives there, and some information from the prisoner we spoke to. I was also able to use... some contacts of mine to get this," a second, smaller image, considerably more complete, flickers into existence below the first one. "This is a blueprint for a rikti Kr'gan class battlecruiser. There are differences between a standard Kr'gan and the mothership in orbit, but it gives us a good starting point. Our job, ladies and gentlemen, is to get onboard this monstrosity, and sweep this area." He points at a shaded region within the first image. "And then we have to get out alive." His gaze sweeps around the room.
"I know that the Alliance would prefer to blow this ship out of space as we leave, but we cannot conceivably carry enough explosives to do so, and the chances of us convincing the ship to destroy itself is negligible. This is a Search and Rescue mission, but any destruction we can rain on the rikti while we're there is a good thing. I now open the floor to the creative thinkers."

Sam waits patiently for a few moment before raising her hand. At Richard's nod, she brushes a stray lock of hair away from her face, and speaks in a strong clear voice.
"This mission can be broken down into four phases: Entry, search, rescue and egress. Each comes with its own problems, and each one is dependent on the others. Entry is relatively easy - I can see two choices. Number one, we boost power to the teleportation arrays we have access to, and simply 'port in. This gives us the advantage of pinpointing our entry point, but we have to presume that the Rikti will be able to detect such an action, and will be alerted to our presence. Choice two is something I really don't like the thought of, though, and that's that we fly up there in an orbital vessel, dock with the mothership and break in." She looks at Richard, who nods once more, looking somewhat disgruntled.
"We have an appropriate vehicle available for this, if it is deemed appropriate, though I think Dicky will have to grease a few palms with the Air Force and NASA to be able to use it."
She points at the hovering holograms. "Phase two: search. If we use the Alpha version of Phase one, we should be able to spread out within the cordoned off region, and given the speed with which some of us can move, that has a great deal of promise. Phase one Beta complicates matters, because we need to utilise stealth to traverse the ship - and the fastest possible route seems to pass through a drone workshop, making this more than a tad risky. Once in the sealed sector, we have the same advantages of speed available to us." She pauses, inviting comment, before soldiering on.
"Phase three is likely to be the easiest part of the operation. Once Kit has been found, we need to break her out of whatever is containing her there. This could be as simple as ripping apart the door to a cell, or it might be a hell of a lot more difficult. We simply don't know. Phase four, part of which might be dealt with in Phase three, is to get the hell off that damned thing alive and intact. If we can figure out whatever is preventing Kit from simply D-rifting herself home, and shut it down, then she can undoubtedly get us out of there. If we can't, then we need to either signal for a teleport, or get back to the... vessel... and escape, depending on the Phase one option used."
She turns her eyes on those assembled. "I want my friend back, and I want to do it quickly. We don't have much time to figure this out, people, and we need to get moving. Thoughts, please."

((to be more precise, you have until the end of Friday before I have to go South, Kit is stuck on a spaceship without Christmas dinner, and the world ends as a result. Rescue Ze Kit, Friday Evening, whatever time is best for you lot.))

((Okay, well, I'll be online sometime around 7.30-8.00 - depending on when I finish tidying away after dinner, at a guess - and Plas is pretty much available all the time, as he's started his Christmas break already *grumble, grumble*, so thanks to Cyder's timely intervention last night on ways to get aboard ze Mothership (details available on request), it looks like we're moderately good to go. If anyone has any particular time that they're not available, make it known, and make it known soon™, so we can try to work around it, but I'm intending to get a crack on pretty much straight away. Ta muchly!))
