Well... I thought I should write some of my background details down for those who are interested.
Here goes... My full name is Joseph Burton Sandoval, and I was born in 1976 on the 5th of May. My family has always been in the mining business and had a small mine in North America. My mother did the paperwork and my father liked to get his hands dirty, so he worked in the mine. It all changed when my father got a contract with the U.S. Military - test running a high-tech nuclear drilling machine. It was well paid and it seemed safe enough.
Some time later on my 15th birthday, my parents gave me a brand new mountain bike. I rushed down to the mines to thank my Dad. I couldn't find him in the tunnel where the nuclear driller was, and this was where things went wrong. A malfunction in the machine caused it to meltdown and explode. When I regained consciousness, I discovered something was terribly wrong... I was trapped INSIDE the caved in mine.
Somehow I was able to move through the rock and soil to reach a clearing, where I met my mother. She had heard the cave in and come rushing. She stopped suddenly when she saw me, that's where I took a closer look at my own body. I was... you know... A walking stone. It also became clear to me that my father was killed in the cave in. My mother was very sad and blamed me for the incident, she told me that she never wanted to see me again. I left.
For a long time I was angry and sad about the things that had happened, and to make things worse, it soon became clear to me that people were afraid of me and ran screaming away when they saw me. For fourteen years I hid in national parks, zoos and other scenery to stay out of sight of the public. Then, I heard of Paragon City, a city with a wide variety of species and humans with super powers fighting the good fight. I decided to make my way there, and it turned out to be a good decision. People here don't point fingers and talk behind your back when you walk past them. They are grateful for all the help they can get.
If there is anything else you'd like to know, don't hesitate to ask.
Joseph
