Upon entering a sealed-off section of Oranbega, the Alliance were taken hostage by none other than Firebird Phoenix, who threatened to execute Scarlet Starlet if the Heroes did not surrender. She was abruptly stopped by the return of Jane, who had apparently been tracking her for several months.
In the ensuing battle, Jane was mortally injured by Firebird's sword, ordering the Alliance to leave and destroying the entire section of the underground city with a massive blast, giving the Alliance sufficient time to escape the summoned demon Baphomet and Oranbega itself. Jane was somehow able to escape the destruction and return to the surface by phasing through the rocks. However, the sheer drain of the explosion she created has rendered her temporarily unable to regenerate, and she remains semi-conscious under the watchful eye of the doctors at the Founders Falls hospital in the meantime. 351 has sent out a final message to all involved.
The final psionic signal was a trap, a ruse by Firebird Phoenix contrived in order to draw Alliance personnel to their deaths. She might well have succeeded had she not been stopped by Jane's unexpected re-emergence.
Available footage of the battle suggests that Firebird and her accomplice in black fled through a large portal when events started to turn against them. Readings taken of the portal before it closed were inconclusive, and as such we have no idea where the villains went at this time.
Jane herself remains under observation at the Founders medical centre, and the doctors describe her condition as weak but stable.
Well done, people. We ended a potentially major threat to the city today. Not without cost, but we did it.
