Freya found a vaguely Ves-shaped form lying in an impressively sized crater. A hint of panic came over her, but was contained as she picked him up very carefully and carried him to the nearest hospital. Despite herself, she wept a little bit as the doctors struggled to do their jobs.

In the dead of night, the halls of the hospital are silent. The only light comes from the monitors, their gentle humming filling the air. The only movement is the slight shuffle of a solitary figure, sitting in a chair between two beds.
Akkarin has barely left Kat and Jane's side, not daring to leave them in case they dissapear again. Looking from one to the other, he let out a sigh. This time it had been too much, no doubt they would never be the same.
So much will never be the same....
Without warning Akkarin walks out of the door and turns. There waiting is a man almost identical to him. There is a brief exchange of words and Akkarin hands over a small ruby, hanging on a gold chain.
Al Hrama.... can we ever trust you?

"I'd stay the hand of God, but the war is on your lips How can I brace myself for razor blades on whips? When everything with meaning is shattered, broken, screaming... And I'm lost inside this darkness and I fear I won't survive..."
~~Unknown Location~~
Fire and shadow... buildings fallen, crumbled. I know where I am, but I cannot tell myself where I am.
Voices in the darkness, quiet, distant. Snatches of sound, both familiar and forgotten. Is this real? A dream? Or is it neither? Am I here or elsewhere, talking to myself or to another?
One thing burns in the darkness, brighter than all others...
The blue phoenix, in flames.

Ves lay on his empty hospital bed watching the ceiling, his breathing rasping harshly in the otherwise silent room. The staff had finally stopped bringing in replacements for the various monitors and IVs after they realized his nanotech was just assimilating them to speed up his recovery as opposed to them doing their intended job.
Slowly the shadows in the corner of the room seemed to grow a little deeper and a pair of lightly glowing eyes opened in the heart of the new darkness. A woman stepped quietly out of the gloom and seemed to glide to his bedside, softly taking his hand in her own.
A tear rolled down her cheek as she spoke, the despair evident in her voice "Had I known you'd suffered so I would have been here sooner. The home you built in the Isles hasn't been the same since you stopped visiting as often as you used to."
Ves tried to reply, but all he could manage ragged sigh and a pained expression as he looked up at his visitor, trust her to come to him when he was at his most fragile, he hadn't even been able to finish rebuilding his body and here she is talking of his wild days under the mask he once wore.
She shook her head as she looked at his ruined body "Shush my savior, you need to save your strength and regain your former power, family life has made you soft it seems, the man I knew in the past would not have fallen so foolishly. You need to find the passion for life you had when you found me, and when you do it must be embraced tightly. Then perhaps your various appetites can be satisfied more suitably"
She leaned forward and gently kissed what was left of his lips and smiled down at him before walking backwards into the shadows once more, and just as her eyes closed she whispered "And you can rest peacefully, those you call your sisters were recovered, they are recieving aid as we speak, though their rescue was slightly marred by petty squabbles. Now rest my smiling killer, and once you are well again I do hope you'll visit us again, you know you'll be welcomed with open arms at the very least"
Ves watched as the room returned to normal then returned his gaze to the ceiling and came as close to smiling as he could. His first family had been brought home, and his other family wanted to see him more often. It seemed as though life was going to get quite interesting once he got off this bed and back on the streets. Until then, he'd rest, consider all the things he'd thought of just before the blast and how to do each of them, and once he was active again god help anything that got in his way
